BIOGRAPHY

In 1983 I graduated with a degree in Music Education, from the University of Northern Colorado. I had grown up in Colorado and taught for five years there before moving to Alaska, where I became a commercial salmon fisherman and taught elementary general music in the Anchorage School District.

I left the classroom after 21 years in 2007 to become the Music Curriculum Coordinator for ASD. At that time I also completed my Masters in Music from Boston University. I then transitioned out of the music field and joined the ASD Professional Learning Department in 2010 as a "training specialist," primarily working with the district’s mentoring program.

In July of 2013 I retired from ASD, and traveled to Cambodia for one year, where my wife and I served as a training specialists for Khmer teachers. Our two children are both grown and married, and we have our first granddaughter, adopted from Ukraine.
